THE PURPOSE OF ANET

ANET’s primary aim is to help ensure the long-term survival of as much of the A&N natural biodiversity as feasible, whilst recognising the needs of the human inhabitants, including the threatened indigenous islanders.

ANET was set up by the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust in 1990 and in 1993 a 5 acre plot of land was purchased for the ANET base at Wandoor in South Andaman. Since then it has grown into the archipelago’s leading environmental agency, carrying out research, conservation and education activities throughout the islands.
